Cookies
Cookies at IGAIV.
Which cookies this site sets, why, and how to change your mind at any time.
The short version
Decline and this site sets one cookie: the record of that choice. Accept and Google Analytics is loaded as well, which sets two more so it can count a repeat visit as one person rather than two. There is no advertising, no tag manager, and nothing is shared with third parties for marketing.
If you decline, the analytics tag is never requested at all. It is not loaded in a reduced mode and it is not loaded without cookies. Nothing goes to Google.
What is actually set
| Name | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| igaiv_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so you are not asked on every page. Set either way, because a decline has to be remembered too. | 12 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics. Distinguishes one visitor from another so a returning reader is not counted twice. Only set if you accept. | 2 years |
| _ga_RCNTCD1CVT | Google Analytics. Keeps the state of the current visit, so moving between pages counts as one session. Only set if you accept. | 2 years |
What the analytics is
Google Analytics 4, used to see which pages get read and how people arrive. It is configured with advertising features and personalisation switched off, and IP addresses anonymised. We do not run remarketing and we do not build audiences.
Google acts as our processor for this and may process the data outside Australia. Their own account of what the cookies do is on the Google business privacy site.
Fonts are served from this domain rather than a third party, so no request leaves the site to load them, and there is no tag manager or advertising pixel anywhere on it.
Changing your choice
Use the control below. It takes effect immediately, and switching to declined also deletes the two analytics cookies rather than leaving them to expire in two years.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies for a site, usually under privacy or site settings. Blocking the cookie above means you will see the notice again on your next visit, and nothing else will change.
